The Museum of Love and Mystery

Jim Woodring has a new book out which is available signed by the amazingly talented artist himself on his website.  A signed book will be sent to your doorstep for a mere $25 (shipping included) or $35 overseas.

“The Museum of Love and Mystery” constains 24 cardboard pages of full-color images from Frank’s holiday sojourn in the Western Unifactor.

Matt already has a copy of this book.  It’s a MUST HAVE.

Every third Monday of every month a collision of burlesque, life drawing, booze, and bawdy humor takes place at Rendezvous’ JewelBox Theatre in downtown Seattle. Last month, Troy–our Design Director– took two of our Designers to Dr. Sketchy’s. A good time was apparently had by Troy, Drake and Devi. Here’s a photo from the Dr. Sketchy Seattle Flickr photo album to document the event.

This month, we’re opening up the invitation to anyone from the studio. Who knows… maybe the woman in the office/closet in the corner of Suite C might break out her charcoals and kneady eraser and join in on the fun.

There was a post on Boing Boing today about Bob Staake’s very unusual illustration process.  He uses a mouse and a copy of Photoshop to create super cute cut-out-style “vector”-based (they’re actually rastor) children’s book illustrations.  What crazy is his process–he takes the idea of cut-out in a very literal way.  Check it out!
